So whether you’re looking to dance the night away, relish a good ole Southern meal, imbibe on a cocktail (skyline views included!) or peep some local art, Charlotte’s calling-and no matter what throne you perch on, these Queen City picks promise to reign supreme.
The Center City district alone dishes 200-plus restos, with myriad nightlife, retail, arts and culture selects to strike any fancy-not to mention 52 miles of greenway for that en plein air feel. Just a quick 2.5-hour drive down I-85, Charlotte awaits as the perf overnight perch or weekend getaway with its bustling big-city vibes, choice cultural and culinary offerings, and thriving nightlife and sports scene (hey, Panthers and NASCAR Hall of Fame!).įrom ever-popular Camp North End and NoDa to buzzy South End and Uptown Charlotte (pro tip: do not call it downtown lest you get glares…), the city’s crown jewels (aka hoods) serve up plenty of fun for everyone. Other amenities include in-room spa services. Guests can use the Charlotte Athletic Club, just off the lobby, for free. Weekends can be loud, depending on what's going on at Epicentre. The Omni occupies a whole block, so it dominates the neighborhood. Suits during the week brides, bachelorettes, and couples on weekends. The concierge has a terrific beat on the city, so be sure to ask about festivals, things to do, and where to eat. There’s a lobby bar and a restaurant (Trade), but the real place to be is the poolside Coin Bar, which has dazzling views of Uptown.
Sign up for the rewards program at check-in, and Wi-Fi is free. They're well laid out for business travelers, yet still have personality. The recently renovated rooms are urban and chic, with earth tones and modern furnishings. As for the hotel itself, it's energetic and buzzing in its own right. The location alone is incredible: directly opposite the hopping bars and restaurants of the Epicentre complex, and connected to Uptown's major headquarters by skywalk (so your hair won't fall frizz on the way to meetings in Hearst Tower or Bank of America building).
It's hard not to feel like the center of Charlotte's universe when you're staying at the Omni.
